According to the Washington Post:

“China potentially could be a $500 billion to $1 trillion a year market for environmentally sustainable ‘green technologies,’ a group of businesses and experts said in a report Thursday that urges governments to ease the way for such initiatives.”

We can create these green jobs right here in America and become a technological leader in the field. The bill being debated in the Senate will help create these green jobs. In fact, according to the Center for American Progress:

“Investments in a clean-energy economy will generate major employment benefits for the entire U.S. economy. Our research finds that spending $150 billion on clean-energy investments would create roughly 1.7 million jobs. This is even after assuming a reduction in fossil fuel spending equivalent to the increase in clean-energy investments.”

Our investments now will determine our economic and environmental health for the next century. We cannot afford inaction.
